Hair Loss

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

First of all, make sure that you even need a female hair loss treatment. Depending on what caused your loss, you may not even need to do anything to make your locks reappear. If the cause is due to a medical treatment, such as chemotherapy for cancer, then your mane will grow back after a period of time. Sometimes the only treatment you need is patience. I know this can be hard when you feel bald and unattractive, but using a female hair loss treatment when you don’t need one can actually hinder the progress of your re-growth.Once you have determined that your hair loss is not temporary and that you do indeed need the assistance of medication in order to grow it back, you can then explore your options. Make sure that the medication that you use does not contain harsh chemicals because these can cause adverse side effects and sometimes make the loss more noticeable.

Hair loss products come and go, but one thing that’s sure to always help your hair to grow are natural hair loss remedies. You just can’t seem to find just one of them. There are tons that many people like yourself suffering from thinning hair have used to significantly boost the growth of their hair with ease. Now one of the things to keep in mind when using natural remedies is that they often times tend to work slower than those common treatments you may have been accustomed to. However don’t think that this is a reason to not use them. Actually you’re missing out on a ton of benefits for your hair by not using them.

The hair follicles located on the top of the head seem to be overly susceptible to bonding by the DHT. There are receptors on the follicle that match perfectly with the DHT. Once bonded, it forces the hair follicle to slowly stop producing hair shaft material. This material, known as keratin, is actually what you see when you look at the hair on your head. As the follicle becomes weaker and weaker the hair shaft continues to shrink until it is no longer capable of supporting itself and it breaks off or falls out. At this point the chances of reinvigorating the follicle to begun production again are very negligible.

Simply give your hair what it needs to grow and the rest is easy. One example of a nutrient found in foods that can give your hair a boost is vitamin B. B3, B5, B6 and B12 all are key vitamins found in foods like wheatgerm, apricots, cabbage and even certain citrus fruits. When you actually think about your own diet, you may find that you’re lacking a bit in these foods. Most of us are living busy lives and that hamburger and french fries from the local fast food drive-in is quite tempting. However you must not lose focus and be sure you’re getting plenty of healthy foods in your body regularly.

Male pattern hair loss, also called male pattern baldness, is a genetic condition known as Androgenetic Alopecia. It is a genetically passed condition associated with the androgynous system that causes hair loss. As the name implies, the hair loss is found in a general pattern from man to man. Usually there is balding at the crown and top of the head along with a receding hair line at the forehead. An extreme example of this condition is seen when a man is completely bald on the top of his head but still has a ring of good hair growth around the sides and posterior area of the scalp. Interestingly enough, this area rarely sees hair loss from this condition.

By using a product with a blend of vitamins, minerals and herb extracts plus minoxidil is the hairloss cure. Herbs like Saw Palmetto, Muira Puama and Nettle Root work together to block the DHT.Also, vitamins and minerals like magnesium, zinc, vitamin B6 and B7 (Biotin) are added giving you an excellent nutritional base to help re-grow your hair and keep the strands you already have. Now that you know what causes hair loss besides heredity, so if you’re dealing with one just remember that there is a solution. It’s not an overnight hairloss cure but if you stick with it over the months…you’ll see new growth then gradually a full head of hair.

Let Your Hair Down

Keeping ponytails, braids or in any type of elastic band can cause mild to moderate hair loss over time. This is because the hair is being stretched and pulled throughout the day. It’s best to leave your hair down and free of clips, hair bands and other hair accessories.

Boost Your Calcium Intake

Calcium is one of the most important nutrient that your hair needs to stay healthy. It works to strengthen and protect the follicles from root to tip. You can increase your calcium intake by consuming dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese.

Aside from genetics, there are other reasons you’ll want to know about.

1. Stress — Not the kind of stress people experience on a daily basis but severe stress the body undergoes after suffering a serious injury, surgery, illness and psychological or emotional trauma.

2. Illnesses — This is another cause of thinning hair. For example, thyroid problems, whether overactive or underactive, causes hair to fall out. Deficiency in iron, B Vitamins and protein also lead to thinning hair.

3. Hormones — This is one of the biggest reasons for hair loss. Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is responsible for hair fall for both men and women. Everyone produces DHT but not everybody goes bald…this is because some people have more androgen receptors than others in their hair follicles.

Remedies Of Cold and Flu

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

During the long winter months it is not unusual to catch the common cold. This can be cause by exposing yourself to the cold weather or someone sick; it is usually a person with the flu themselves.

Although, most of us are familiar with the flu and expect it to wear out within a couple of days, it can still cause a great amount of distress.

One of the better known herbal flu remedies is echinacea. There have been numerous clinical studies showing that echinacea stimulates the immune system and is effective in the treatment of influenza.

One study in Volgograd showed that echinacea, not only contributed to quicker recovery, but also reduced the risk of post-flu complications.

Cold remedy #2 GINGER: This horn shaped herb, available in most stores induces perspiration and eases coughs colds and flu and boosts the immune system.

An infusion (tea) is an excellent remedy for colds and can be made from ginger, honey, and fennel. Ginger is also used as a treatment for motion sickness and nausea and helps in morning sickness.

Cold remedy #3 BORAGE: An ideal remedy for lowering temperature by inducing perspiration and relieving cold and flu symptoms.

A tea infusion can be made from a liquid tincture or by adding leaves and flowers to boiling water. The flowers of this plant have been used traditionally in cough mixtures.

Cold remedy #4 MYRRH: Mentioned of course in the Bible used extensively in the Middle East for catarrhal and sinus problems.

A gargle made fro this herb is effective against colds, sore throats and coughs. Myrrh also has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities. Used also as a treatment for gum disease.

Cold remedy #5 THYME: This herb has along tradition of use as a remedy for colds, dry coughs asthma, and bronchitis and has excellent anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities when used for external applications via a tincture.

Calcium is the main mineral your body uses to keep a health alkaline balance. If you don’t provide it with food or supplements, your body will rob it from your bones.

The herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores cannot operate in an alkaline environment. Stress causes cold sores because stress turns your body acid.

Take optimal amounts of calcium every day. You should be taking a multi-vitamin with a minimum of a 1000 milligrams of calcium per daily dose. If cold sores are a big problem for you, get a calcium supplement for a daily intake of at least 2000 milligrams.

First, include Vitamin E and the essential fatty acids, such as omega-3, omega-6, omega-9 & GLA, in your diet, as these help regulate abnormal proliferation of the outer skin layers.

In other words, they help promote a healthy exfoliation process which in turn helps the skin rids the body of toxins. Daily cleansing of the body is how we help the process by washing away the dead skin cells from the body.

In some cases, we may need to assist the exfoliation process with the use of exfoliating soaps or cleansers or body loofahs.

Keratosis pilaris is a condition which indicates lack of moisture and imbalance immune system. You need to bring moisture back to your skin, by increasing water intake as well as moisturizing your skin.

In addition, you need to restore balance through nutritions and detoxification to remove the toxins that are affecting your immune health.

Unfortunately, today, our immune systems are exposed to a torrent of toxic chemicals that can weaken its ability to defend the health of our bodies.

Plastics, pesticides, and pollutants of all kinds are in most consumer products. And virtually all of these chemicals can damage the immune system, leaving your body vulnerable to attack.

There are many toxic exposures in the average American home. So many, in fact, that there is a whole class of chemicals called “immunotoxicants,” which, by definition, cause “increased incidence or severity of infectious diseases.”

Removing immunotoxicants from your home will do even more than stop colds and flus–it will protect you and your family from all contagious diseases, including bronchitis and pneumonia, diarrhea, measles, mumps, whooping cough, and others.

Flu shots and vaccinations? Removing immuntoxics from your home allows your immune system to regenerate naturally, and fight off all infectious diseases.

The Flu on the other hand is a little more serious. You start off with the same symptoms as the cold but you have a fever, your body aches, harsh coughing and extreme fatigue.

Sometimes the flu can turn into pneumonia if you are not careful. Of course continuously high fevers, a steadily worsening condition, or even for peace your of mind as with any condition always seek your doctors’ opinion.

A leading expert on stress related illnesses (Dr.Sheldon Cohen, PhD), has concluded from studies that the singular strategy to keep your immune system and general health strong and avoid catching a cold or the flu, is to reduce stress.

During the cold and flu season you need to support your immune system there are preventive dietary choices and herbs that are very safe and effective to help you get back on your feet again without taking a bunch of chemicals.

Cancer,Symptoms Of Cancer and Treatments

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

The studies on garlic have revealed that garlic’s benefits are not limited to any specific species, to any particular tissue or even to a specific type of carcinogen. However, there is a strong link between garlic and the prevention on prostate and stomach cancers.

There are many methods that are used to fight against cancer and one of the most commonly used method is radiation treatment. The idea is that by focusing energy in the form of x-rays, gamma rays or protons, the cancer is either destroyed or slowed down.

Skin cancer is considered one of the most common cancers in the world. It happens when our normal cells undergo changes and spread without control and invade other cells, tissues and organs.

It has been several years since scientists found the initial link between tanning beds and skin cancer. We know all too well that there is a relationship between sunlight and skin cancer, but the radiation found in tanning beds damages the skin just like radiation from the sun.

There are some telltale signs that will indicate that you indeed have a cyst on your ovary but experiencing one or most of the ovarian cysts symptoms does not always directly point out that you are affected with the disease. Symptoms are signs, they are the body’s way of telling us that something is going on.

It is not always easy to diagnose Anemia straight away. If you have any of the above symptoms you should consult your doctor as soon as possible. Many people make the wrong decision thinking that Anemia is not a serious condition.

Symptoms Of Cancer

Colon cancer early symptoms include blood in the stool or unable to pass motion suggesting that the colon is blocked. Frequent diarrhea, constipation and unexplained stomach aches are early symptoms but they may be early symptoms of other forms of cancer.

Weight loss, when there have been no changes to diet or exercise routine, may be another early symptom of cancer of the colon or other digestive cancers

Cancerous polyps may not cause any signs or symptoms. These are usually detected through screening tests like a colonoscopy.

The most common prostate cancer early symptoms are difficulty in urinating are difficulty in urinating and the urgency to leak.

The bladder retains the urine while creating frequent sensations to urinate, usually at night. The urine flow is slow, weak and intermittent.

A lump or thickening in the breast or any other part of the body. Women especially, should regularly feel their breasts and if a lump is found, report should be made to a doctor fast.

Unusual bleeding or discharge. Blood in the urine may be a symptom of bladder or kidney cancer; blood or mucus in the stools may be a symptom of bowel cancer as well.

Nagging cough or chronic hoarseness. A persistent cough, especially if there is spitting of blood and a loss of weight may be a symptom of lung cancer.

There are about twenty eight to thirty thousand people diagnosed with oral cancer each year. Some risk factors include, men over fifty years of age, folks who consume alcohol, and those that use tobacco.

Treatments

The terrible long wait is over and the bad news has been delivered-you have breast cancer.  Now what, are you going to die?  What happens next?  There are literally dozens of questions and fears bouncing around in your head and you might be frozen with fear.

Remember that you are not alone and that literally thousands of other women have already dealt with this terrible disease and survived to live many long and productive years.

The road to getting better is a long one that you must endure, but it is not one that you will travel alone.  Your family, friends, and doctors will be there to help you and do not be afraid to reach out and ask for help.  You are not weak or helpless, you are sick and people want to help but they just do not know how-so be ready to ask!

Work with your doctor to come up with the medical treatment that best fits your needs and that will help cure your type of breast cancer.  Most breast cancers will be treated with surgery to remove the tumor and all, or part, of the breast tissue may be removed.

Excluding the surgery, there are three primary treatments being used today as a breast cancer treatment and they include chemotherapy, hormone therapy and radiotherapy.

Oxygen cannot cure sickness and disease unless it’s delivered to the cells and tissues of the body. The kind of treatment you’re about to learn is the only one that uses a natural oxygenating substance, which activates the movement of oxygen atoms in the bloodstream to the cells to a radically greater degree than is usually reached by other means.

Smoking, drinking alcohol in excess, improper diet is considered the prime risk factors for this disease. There are several different tests available to detect this disease. Digital rectal exam, fecal occult blood test, endoscopy are some of them.

Diarrhea,symptoms Of Diarrhea and Treatments

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

When a person has diarrhea, they are at a risk of being severely dehydrated. Then the body cannot function properly. This is particularly dangerous in infants and young children.

There are some prescription drugs that can be used to treat diarrhea, but they also interfere with some of the natural body mechanisms involving the immune system.

It can be said that abdominal cramps and diarrhea tells us about the irritation that our colon or the digestive system faces for various reasons.

Diarrhea is a condition or a disorder, which causes the discharge of frequent stool which is loose, liquid and soft; thereby the frequency is increased of a person’s excretion rate.

Salmonella, shigella, e. choli and campylobacter are the most common types of bacterial infection which cause episodes of diarrhea.

Abdominal cramps can also signify infections of the colon. This is the reason that such cramps are one of the symptoms of ulcerative colitis.

Symptoms Of Diarrhea

Symptoms of diarrhea include loose stools and vomiting. A fever often, but not always, accompanies this condition. Vomiting may or may not be present. Each case is unique.

Viruses are often transmitted via the fecal-oral route; by having hands in unsanitary places and then sucking their thumb. That’s why it’s important that children frequently wash their hands.

Diarrhea is caused by various things to include some medications, treatments and infections. Often though, it is caused by food.

Diarrhea remains to be one of the most common diseases that leads to dehydration in children. When a child is having too many bowel movements and is vomiting several times then efforts should be made on a constant basis to replace the fluids in the body.

Diarrhea is caused due to bad bacteria such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, Yersinia, Aeromonas, and Plesiomonas spp. Sometimes Cryptosporidium and Giardia lamblia may also be responsible for it.

Then the virus is spread through contact with an infected person, like through shaking hands or kissing example, or by sharing food, or drinks, or eating utensils.

Rather than use the acute/chronic grading for diarrhea types it is probably better to classify them according what drives the diarrhea.

Treatments

Bacterial infection from unhygienic food and contaminated water is the main cause of diarrhea in developing countries. Some viruses may also cause diarrhea.

Diet and Nutrition Drink lots of water and peppermint tea to replace lost fluid. If symptoms persist, replace lost salts by regularly drinking a mixture of 1 pt/500mlt water to 1 tablespoonful of sugar and 1 teaspoonful of salt. The water strained off boiled rice is also helpful.

Diarrhea treatment can be achieved by using Ginger. In cases of diarrhea that were caused by indigestion, fresh or dry ginger has shown to be very useful.

Diarrhea treatment can be achieved by using Bottle Gourd. The juice of bottle gourd is a very valuable medicine that is used to treat excessive thirst caused by diarrhea.

Diarrhea treatment can be achieved by using Rice. Rice has shown to very useful in treating diarrhea within children. Take a teaspoon of the powder of charred parboiled rice, mixed with buttermilk.

You know it’s an issue that you can’t ignore but you’re hesitant to make the trip to the vet only to pay a high doctors bill for what you’re guessing is a relatively simple solution.

If your canine develops a case of diarrhea and otherwise seems active, content and strong, you can assist the recovery to normal by making some dietary adjustments.

Unfortunately, one potential cause of severe diarrhea is the very antibiotics used in mainstream medicine to treat the infections that cause diarrhea.

Remedies Of ChickenPox

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Chicken pox is caused due to a virus. It is highly contagious and afflicts children as well as adults. However, when children get chicken pox, the symptoms are not that severe as when adults get it

Chicken Pox home remedy treatment can be achieved by using Brown Vinegar. The use of brown vinegar is known to be one of the most important home remedies for treating chicken pox.

Chickenpox occurs mostly during the end of the winter and the beginning of the spring. It generally affects children aged from 2 to 8 and can take the form of epidemics.

Predrome (pain) – being the first symptom to appear in patients, it appears to be located at the very site where the virus will be re-activating, making the pain be sharp, piercing, tearing or even similar to an electric shock.

The vaccination of children avoids the acquiring of the virus in childhood. This fact is not really helping the children because, when they become adults they are more exposed to develop chicken pox and the complications at an older age are unavoidable.

It goes without saying that chicken pox rash is quite itchy and you will want to control the itching otherwise bacterial infection of the lesions could set in. Take 2 teaspoons each of marigold flowers and witch hazel leaves. Soak them overnight in one cup of water and then use the water to apply on the blisters.

Fill your bath tub with cool water and then add a piece of ginger to it. Make the person having chicken pox sit in the bath for around 30 minutes. This home remedy helps to stop the itching.

Take a glass of water and add half teaspoon of baking soda. Use a soft sponge to gently sponge the body. Let the water and baking soda mixture dry naturally. Once it dries, it will help alleviate the itching.

For fever, drink Catnip tea sweetened with molasses.
Many parents are worried that chicken pox blisters will leave permanent scars on their child, especially if the child has been scratching them. Take pure natural homey and gently apply on the dried scabs. This will prevent scarring and also help to lighten the scars.

Apply Vitamin E oil on the scabs and this home remedy will make the scars disappear quickly.

Well-balanced diet – At first, put the patient on a 100% fruit diet. After the condition seems to be improving, switch the patient to a more well-balanced diet.

Warm baths with neem leaves – Give the patient a warm bath with neem leaves included in it. Neem leaves should be added to the water for the best results.

After chickenpox, the virus lies dormant in certain nerves of the body. For reasons as yet unknown, the virus can become active again after many years, causing shingles.

The symptoms of chickenpox are: fever, itchy, red bumps that transform into round blisters with a red base. These blisters will form a crust and will eventually dry.

Blisters appear in many cases on the scalp and in the mouth. After their appearance they spread all over the body especially over the shoulders, chest and back.

A treatment for chicken pox is not always necessary. If the patient is isolated in a cold room this infection may disappear within a week. Warm places can cause an even harder to take itchiness. If the infection develops into a more serious one treatment is highly recommended.

Sometimes there is a delay in the ability to recover, such as when weeks pass. This may require a gentle stimulus. Should the child also be weak and his appetite distorted, the remedy is likely to be Sulphur 30.

Once the blisters burst open they get healed within a week. Light scars are left which will disappear soon. Shingles may not be a deadly disease but it may prove to be dangerous for people suffering from HIV infection or getting cancer treatments, as the immune system is very weak.

Except them, all children are vaccinated against chicken pox when they are one year old. It is preferable that your child receives the chicken pox vaccine at the same time with the vaccine against mumps- measles- rubella.
